Joseph Drouhin Chambolle Musigny Premier Cru 2018

Product description

Fine lace and silk are the words most often associated with this wine.

Bright, intense colour and complex aromas evoking violet, black cherry and damp earth. According to the vintages, there are also notes of truffle and game. Refined tannins coat the palate. Good balance between texture and acidity. Long aftertaste, with notes of cherry and candied fruit.

95 Points - Decanter

This is a classic 'cuvee ronde', combining fruit from six different Premiers Crus to produce a stylish example of what Veronique Drouhin calls the 'cashmere of Burgundy'. Scented, balanced and ethereal, it's a transparent expression of Chambolle's range of terroirs, with sweet summer berry flavours and fine, velvety tannins. Accomplished stuff.

94 Points - James Suckling

Dried strawberry and black-cherry aromas with hints of dried cherries and orange blossom. It’s full-bodied with round, integrated and fine tannins. Tight and reserved on the finish.

90+ Points - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate

The 2018 Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru is also promising, exhibiting aromas of rich berry fruit, dark chocolate and creamy new oak. It's medium to full-bodied, velvety and supple, with an ample core of sweet fruit, ripe acids and melting tannins.
